Agent Skill
Give coding agents instructions for safely operating other agents through Hive.
Hive includes a skill that teaches coding agents how to start, prompt, wait for, read, and coordinate other agents. Print the installed version with:
hive --skillUse the output as an agent skill or project instruction in the format supported by your coding agent. The canonical skill source lives at skills/hive/SKILL.md.
What the skill teaches
- Start each concurrent task in its own environment or Git worktree.
- Prompt agents without interleaving prompts to the same process.
- Wait for a requested state and distinguish
done, blocked, stalled, exited, andtimeoutoutcomes. - Read an agent’s terminal before answering approval or permission requests.
- Collect results from output or files and leave unmerged worktrees intact.
- Use the CLI, JSON output, Hive MCP tools, or the Go SDK to coordinate work.
The skill is intended for an agent with access to this Hive session, such as an agent running inside a Hive pane or one connected to the Hive MCP server. It does not install or authenticate the underlying coding agent.
